Quilt Preparation

Preparing your quilt will result in more precise and even longarm quilting

Backing and Batting

The backing and batting should be 4" wider and longer on each side than the quilt top.  Press top and back

Seams

Backing seams should be pressed open for a flat finish.  On the quilt top, light colored fabrics should be pressed toward dark fabrics when possible.
Remove salvages.  This prevents puckering

Square up the Backing

Properly square up the quilt back.  Charge for this service if not squared

Prep layers

Do not attach top, batting and backing.  They must be separate when loaded onto longarm
